ABOUT THE AUTHOR INVENTOR ARTIST

Mr. Morrison was born in New York in the summer of 1950. He spent most of his childhood in Coconut Grove, Florida, in NYC, and at Ambarnest, his grandfather's property beyond Port Jervis, N. Y.

 

+His education includes Rivera Day School, Ransom Prep, Sandy Spring Friends, Art Students League of N. Y., School of Visual Arts, École des Beaux Artes (Paris), and The N. Y. Studio School. More recently he received mechanical training at Santa Barbara City College as he worked his way into the field of aviation maintenance and repair at the local airport. This he did while he raised his family in Santa Barbara, CA.                       

 

+His honors and awards include Creative Artists Public Service commendation, CAPS in New York, many Gold Keys from The Scholastic National Competition, Hallmark Award, together with full Scholarship to ASL, NY. where he won both the Concours Awards for his classes with V. Vytlacil's Abstract Painting and Robert B. Hale's Anatomy. In Paris, he was placed in the class of Sangier, an original Bauhaus instructor.                                                                                                                           

 

+Shows Exhibitions: his first show when he was in his 20s was at the Cafe Figaro and then in Paris at the reception of the ambassador’s daughter Jane Watson Stetson. His first sales were at the Lowe Art Gallery in Miami at twelve years old. It was a grouping of pictures of skateboarders, his passion at the time.

 

+As a retail designer in New York for twenty-five years at James Morrison Design on Barrow St. his clients included TKTS Theatre Development Fund, The City of New York, CBS College Publishing, U S A 1 Design Group, Doug Wilson, Gindi Apparel, etc.

James lives in Sonoma County, CA where he is preparing for his next exhibition in San Fransisco.
